THE husband of Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer Norhazwani Ibrahim, who was found dead at a government residential complex in Nilai on Oct 15, has 16 previous criminal records, police said.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said checks found that 10 of the records involved narcotics offences, while the remaining six were related to housebreaking, theft and possession of stolen property.
However, a preliminary urine screening conducted on the suspect, who is in his 30s, returned a negative result for drugs.
“Statements have been recorded from 18 individuals to assist in completing the investigation. The suspect previously worked as an event management crew member,” Johari said when contacted.
He said investigations were ongoing and the case papers would be referred to the prosecution on Wednesday for further action.
Police had not received any reports of marital problems involving the victim before the incident, he added.
Norhazwani was found dead in a unit at a government staff housing complex in Nilai. Her husband subsequently surrendered at the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi police station in Sepang, Selangor, to assist with the investigation.
A post-mortem examination found that she died from pressure on her neck. It also revealed stab wounds to the side of her abdomen and cheek.
The incident is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute after Norhazwani reportedly expressed her intention to seek a divorce.
The couple had been married for seven years and had two children, aged six and five.
The suspect was remanded for seven days until Oct 22 to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - October 20, 2026
