Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort celebrates a landmark year of international recognition, reinforcing its standing as a distinctive luxury retreat on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Building on its recognition among the world’s finest hotels in Travel + Leisure’s T+L 500 earlier this year, the resort now celebrates acclaim from Condé Nast Traveler, a place in the MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection and a Gold Award at the South Asian Travel Awards. Together, these honours bring traveller appreciation and industry acclaim into focus, placing the resort’s heartfelt hospitality and the beauty of Tangalle firmly in the international spotlight.
Leading these achievements, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort has been ranked No. 12 in the Top 15 Resorts in Asia in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, US edition. Shaped by readers’ votes, this distinction holds particular meaning as it reflects the exceptional experiencesand lasting memories guests take home from their time at the resort.
The resort also marks its entry this year into the MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection, adding another distinction to its international profile. This milestone complements an approach to luxury defined by understated elegance, distinctive dining and the freedom to unwind at an unhurried pace. With the Indian Ocean as its backdrop, the resort invites guests to savour the seclusion of a private pool villa, explore new flavours and find renewal through Ayurvedic wellness.
Completing this trio of recent achievements, the resort received the Gold Award for Leading Luxury Resort in South Asia at the South Asian Travel Awards 2026. The regional honour adds further momentum to a year that has brought the resort recognition across several influential travel and hospitality platforms.
Behind these milestones is a commitment to consistently high standards, discretion and care in every detail. This is brought to life by a team that anticipates guests’ needs, from a carefully arranged celebration to the quiet details that allow a holiday to unfold effortlessly. The warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality gives that service its distinctive character, creating a welcome that feels both intuitive and sincere.
Set among coconut palms overlooking the Indian Ocean, the resort combines the tranquillity of a coastal retreat with opportunities for discovery. Private pool villas offer space to unwind at an unhurried pace, while cliffside dining at Il Mare brings together Italian cuisine and sweeping ocean views. At Anantara Spa, Ayurvedic traditions connect guests with the island’s wellness heritage, complemented by experiences that introduce the culture, landscapes and wildlife of southern Sri Lanka.
“Luxury becomes meaningful when we understand how a guest wants to spend their time,” says Mr. Frederik Van den Borre, General Manager, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort. “It may be the privacy to switch off, the confidence that a family’s needs have been anticipated, or an introduction to a part of Sri Lanka they would never have discovered alone. Our team’s craft lies in recognising those wishes and quietly bringing them to life. These recognitions are a proud moment for all of us, and our responsibility is to make that same care evident in every stay.”
Beyond the resort, these achievements add to Sri Lanka’s appeal as a destination for discerning travellers, where a coastal escape can open the door to remarkable culinary, cultural and wellness discoveries. They also underline Tangalle’s place in that story, offering an inviting perspective on the island’s southern shores.
For Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, this landmark year is both a celebration of its team and an inspiration for the journey ahead. The focus remains on translating recognition into the everyday quality of a stay, giving guests new reasons to discover the resort and returning visitors every reason to feel at home.
