Its double-maturation in port-seasoned American oak casks fills the senses with aromas of berries—notably strawberry and black currant—plum, baking spice, fruitcake, and honeyed oak. The berries are more subtle on the palate, with maraschino cherry, plum jam, and toffee, then hints of gingersnaps, fruitcake, stewed tea, cinnamon bark, and fresh berries to finish, leaving the impression that the port casks are providing the dominant voice throughout.
