During a visit to Samarkand, the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan is one of the important priorities of Washington’s foreign policy.
Rubio said his visit to Samarkand is not related to any particular international crisis but is aimed at further developing bilateral relations with Uzbekistan, intensifying political dialogue, and strengthening regional cooperation. Rubio also noted that the timing of the visit provided a convenient opportunity to hold discussions with the leaders of the five Central Asian countries.
During the visit, the U.S. Secretary of State is expected to participate in a ministerial meeting in the C5+1 format and hold talks with the leadership of Uzbekistan. Rubio also pointed out that global crises may lead to the postponement of certain high-level visits. Nevertheless, Washington continues to attach particular importance to the consistent development of relations with its key international partners. These statements by the U.S. Secretary of State underscore Uzbekistan’s role as an important partner in Central Asia and reflect the mutual interest of both countries in further advancing political and diplomatic dialogue.
Marco Rubio arrived in Samarkand on October 18. A C5+1 ministerial meeting, an Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States, and a meeting of the Business and Investment Council are scheduled for today (October 19).

The U.S. delegation includes more than 200 representatives of the business community.
