He began with a commanding 110 in the opening ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, helping India secure an eight-wicket victory and take a 1-0 lead in the series. The India captain raised the bar in the next match, smashing 223 off just 133 deliveries in a breathtaking display of strokeplay. The double-century was the quickest in ODI history, adding another milestone to Gill's growing list of achievements.“It feels fantastic to win my fifth ICC Player of the Month award, and I am grateful to the panel for this honour. It was immensely satisfying to score those runs and even more special to be part of successful run chases in front of our home fans, whose support always gives us an extra boost,” Gill said. The right-hander also highlighted the evolving demands of ODI cricket and India's preparations for the next men's World Cup.“The pace of ODI cricket has gone up significantly, and you must think on your feet, assess the conditions quickly and adapt to the demands of the pitch and the target.
