Two of the three suspects in the deadly arson attack on a Marfin bank branch in Athens are appearing before an investigating judge on Wednesday, October 21, following the filing of additional charges related to terrorism.
The two defendants appearing in court are a 46-year-old woman extradited from the United Kingdom and a 42-year-old man. The third suspect, also 42, has been granted an extension and is scheduled to give his testimony on Friday, October 23.
All three suspects are already in pretrial detention and now face serious additional charges, including homicide in the context of a terrorist organization or act, as well as multiple attempted homicides against the bank’s 24 employees.
The proceedings concern the supplementary criminal prosecution for terrorist acts linked to the fatal arson at the Marfin bank branch, one of Greece’s most notorious cases of political violence.
