The new trailer for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One puts the spotlight on Yash’s Ravana as a formidable force of evil and the king of the world.
The two-minute-and-37-second trailer, dropped by Sony Pictures Entertainment on Thursday, pits Ravana against Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram, described as “not a God but a man chosen by destiny” to defeat the demon king, who has unleashed a reign of cruelty. “If this is my fate, I will not hesitate to destroy him,” Ram says in the trailer. Interspersed with action sequences and mythical creatures, the video also offers a glimpse of Sai Pallavi as Sita.
The film also stars Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. Anupam Kher lends his voice to Jatayu, the divine vulture demigod.
Ramayana is reportedly being made on a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore. Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are collaborating on the music, while DNEG and Prime Focus are among the teams working on the film’s visual effects.
The film is set to hit theatres on November 5.
Ramayana is planned as a two-part film. The second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.
