The 34-year-old man arrested in connection with the suspected arson at the motorhome site in the Son Hugo car park in Palma on Wednesday has been remanded in custody.
His arrest came some hours after the incident shortly before 1pm. He had set fire to the motorhome of another man who had apparently assaulted his partner. While the woman was receiving medical attention, she called her husband to explain what had happened; this prompted him to go immediately to the scene and set the vehicle on fire.
The fire spread, leaving three vehicles burned out and a fourth partially damaged. One person sustained burns to an arm while attempting to move a vehicle to safety.
The 34-year-old left the scene and changed his clothes, but he was nevertheless located by the National Police later on Wednesday and arrested.
