Eight people living in a Kentucky residence were arrested in connection with a child abuse investigation involving seven victims, authorities said.
The defendants face numerous charges, including criminal abuse, incest, rape and human trafficking, the Richmond Police Department said in a news release on Friday.
The arrests came after a joint investigation by the police department, Child Protective Services and the Department for Community Based Services, the police department said.
It resulted in criminal allegations “toward multiple family members living in the same residence,” it said.
Seven minors, aged 1 to 17, were placed with Social Services.
A spokesperson for the police department told NBC News that bail for each person arrested in the case has been set at $50,000 to $125,000.
The police spokesperson said she was not sure of the relationship between the eight people arrested, but that they were all listed as living at the same residence and the seven children were removed from that residence.
Newsweek has contacted the police department for further comment via an email sent outside regular business hours. It was not immediately clear if the individuals had attorneys who could speak on their behalf.
