Real Madrid played some of their best football of the season to secure an important 4-1 victory over Sevilla in La Liga.
The performance was a confidence boost for Jose Mourinho’s side ahead of El Clasico, with the manager’s changes playing a particularly important role.
Yan Diomande has written his name into Real Madrid’s history books, becoming the youngest player to score and provide an assist in the same La Liga match for the club in the 21st century.
He achieved the milestone at 19 years and 338 days, surpassing Jude Bellingham’s previous record of 20 years and 51 days.
Diomande makes history at Real Madrid
The achievement highlights the impressive attacking talent Madrid have in Diomande, who continues to demonstrate his ability to influence matches in different ways.
Scoring and providing an assist in the same game is particularly significant for a young attacker, as it shows that his contribution extends beyond simply finding the net.
In surpassing Bellingham, Diomande has set a new benchmark for Madrid’s emerging talents.
It also underlines how quickly he is settling in at Madrid after a difficult start, with his recent performances offering plenty of encouragement.
Another exciting prospect for Mourinho
Diomande’s display against Sevilla further demonstrates the depth of Madrid’s attacking options.
Madrid already possess established stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, making it especially impressive when a teenager shows he can match or surpass their level.
What makes Diomande particularly exciting is his combination of goalscoring potential and creativity.

Consistency will ultimately determine whether Diomande can turn these promising performances into a permanent role in Mourinho’s plans.
For now, he does not face competition from Vinicius, who is serving a four-match suspension in La Liga.
Once the Brazilian returns, the Ivory Coast winger may struggle to secure a role on the left and could be shifted back to the right.
The challenge now for Diomande is to keep improving his decision-making, build his understanding with team-mates and find ways to be effective in big matches.
At 19, Diomande still has plenty of areas of his game to develop, and it remains to be seen how he fares against Barcelona next week.
