UKHRUL: The Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has condemned the killing of civilians in multiple incidents reported on October 10 in Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts, demanding immediate investigations, arrests and prosecution of those responsible, including the alleged beheading of Naga civilian Ajinpou Ringkangmai.
TIM expressed condolences to the bereaved families and criticised the government for what it described as a failure to translate condemnations and assurances of justice into concrete action against perpetrators of violence.

The Thadou civil body also condemned the killing of 42-year-old Domkhonei Touthang, whom it identified as a woman from Chahsat village, and other victims of the reported incidents.
Referring to Ringkangmai’s alleged beheading at Makui, TIM described the incident as an extreme act of brutality. It called for an urgent investigation into the killing and the circulation of a video purportedly showing armed men displaying the victim’s severed head.
TIM said the footage, if authenticated, could provide crucial evidence for investigators and urged authorities to identify those involved and ensure their prosecution.
It linked the continuing violence to what it described as a failure to secure accountability for previous killings, including the deaths of Thadou and Naga victims in an attack on May 13, 2026. It warned that failure to prosecute those responsible could deepen the climate of fear and encourage further violence.
Calling for thorough investigations into armed groups implicated in attacks on civilians, TIM said any designation of such groups as terrorist organisations should be based on evidence and applicable law.

The KIM then criticised chief minister Y. Khemchand Singh’s handling of the security situation, arguing that public appearances, official statements and promises of compensation could not substitute for effective investigations and prosecution.
Questioning the government’s ability to protect civilians, TIM urged the state to demonstrate its commitment to peace through impartial investigations, lawful arrests and prosecution of those responsible, rather than assurances without tangible outcomes.
TIM demanded immediate investigations into the reported killings, accountability for Ringkangmai’s beheading and the deaths of other victims, and effective security measures to prevent further violence against civilians.
“The killing of innocent people is not a festival. Human lives are not trophies,” the organisation stated, calling for action, accountability and justice.
