Colombo, October 22 (Daily Mirror) - Motorcycles with engine capacities of less than 48cc or 50cc must be registered, Commissioner General of Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) Retired Air Marshal Thushara Fernando said today (22).
Speaking at a media briefing, he said some motorcycle dealers had been claiming that motorcycles in this category did not require registration.
He urged consumers to ensure that they obtain the proper customs documentation when purchasing such motorcycles.
Fernando warned that riding an unregistered motorcycle on public roads could result in legal action and fines by the police.
