Ven. Kassapa hospitalised after slipping and falling – Police Spokesperson
Balangoda Kassapa Thera was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after slipping and falling at Viharamahadevi Park, Police Spokesperson Frederick Wootler said.
The Police Spokesperson said it had been observed that certain individuals, particularly on social media, were spreading false statements intended to provoke the public in connection with the incident.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken against those disseminating false information.
He also stated that no assault on the monk had been reported.
Meanwhile, Colombo National Hospital Director Dr Sampath Indika Kumara said Ven.
Kassapa Thera had left the hospital after an initial examination, stating that he did not require further treatment.
Elaborating on the matter, Dr Kumara said:
“Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera arrived at the Accident Service of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka at around 8.30 p.m. today for treatment.
Approximately an hour later, he informed the hospital that he did not require further treatment and left.
The doctors concerned examined him in relation to the reason for his visit and conducted the relevant radiological investigations, ultrasound scans and blood tests.
No abnormalities were detected in those tests at the time.
