The XFS file-system updates have landed for the in-development Linux 7.4 kernel.
This cycle the XFS changes aren't too noteworthy but consist of small bug fixes and clean-ups. There are also some small performance optimizations but nothing too significant hitting XFS with Linux 7.4.
Carlos Maiolino simply summed up the XFS changes in Linux 7.4 as:
"The bulk of this are bug fixes, cleanups and code refactoring, lots of them. Majority of those bug fixes are targeting scrub and online repair code. There are no real new features here but lots of prep code for future work. There are also some small performance optimizations but nothing major."
These small updates are merged.
Separate from the XFS pull request, via the VFS IOmap pull there is improved performance and resource usage for the XFS checksumming path with Linux 7.4 that was merged this week as well.
