LS ELECTRIC (010120.KS) has signed a 185.3 billion won power distribution supply contract with Bloom Energy, accelerating its push into power infrastructure for U.S. big tech data centers.
LS ELECTRIC said on the 13th that it had signed a contract worth $138.45 million (about 185.3 billion won) to supply switchgear and distribution transformers to the global power company.
The equipment will be used in a fuel cell-based on-site power generation project for a big tech data center under construction in Pennsylvania. LS ELECTRIC plans to deliver 38-kilovolt high-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers between April and July next year.
The company said the deal carries particular significance because it supplies the switchgear and distribution transformers needed for large data centers as a package. It added that the order demonstrates the competitiveness of its distribution solutions at a time when on-site generation equipment is becoming more important in meeting the enormous power demand of artificial intelligence data centers.
With this contract, LS ELECTRIC's cumulative orders from Bloom Energy have surpassed $500 million (about 668.9 billion won) in roughly a year and a half since April last year. The company said it would use the deal to further solidify its strategic partnership with Bloom Energy and move faster to secure additional business in the North American market, including fuel cell-based power infrastructure for data centers.
"We will further strengthen our strategic cooperation with Bloom Energy and accelerate our push into the fast-growing North American AI data center power infrastructure market, led by our local production and service infrastructure and our differentiated distribution solutions," an LS ELECTRIC official said.
LS ELECTRIC has built an integrated local operation covering sales, design, production and service, centered on LS Electric Utah and its Bastrop campus in Texas.
