Jointly hosted by the U.K.’s Financial Times and Japan’s Nikkei, the event brings together key decision-makers from the global luxury industry. This year, some 300 global opinion leaders attended, including chief executive officers of leading luxury companies such as Dior, Saint Laurent, and Zegna, as well as Francesco Risso, Yoon Ahn, and Law Roach, sharing industry trends.
At this year’s summit, LG Household & Health Care reinforced its standing as a "Science-Driven" luxury brand. Yang Geun-hye, head of the Luxury Beauty Division, and Kang Nae-gyu, chief technology officer and head of the Research Institute, appeared in a solo discussion session, the "Fireside Chat," where they presented The History of Whoo’s differentiated mission. Introducing a successful case that combines Korean heritage with advanced dermatological science research achievements, they showcased the essence of K-luxury beauty.
The core of the discussion focused on research and development capabilities that support sustainable competitiveness. The company explained that LG Household & Health Care’s distinctive infrastructure, built up over about 80 years since the launch of Lucky Cream in 1947, forms the foundation for completing The History of Whoo’s storytelling. In particular, the brand drew attention by officially declaring its vision to lead the longevity science paradigm in line with the recently spotlighted "Longevity" trend.
As a technological achievement, the company presented a successful case of commercializing "NAD," a next-generation anti-aging ingredient. NAD has been known as an ingredient that plays a key role in maintaining skin vitality, but is difficult to apply to cosmetics because of its low penetration efficiency. Through 13 years of research, The History of Whoo succeeded in developing "NAD Power24™," which improved penetration and delivery. The technology is currently applied to major products such as The History of Whoo Bichup NAD Power Ampoule, providing an intensive aging-care solution.
Also displayed at the venue were the brand’s distinctive Bichup line, which embodies its unique technological capabilities, and the ultra-premium Hwanyu line, which was selected as an official VIP gift at last year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju. Special gifts were also provided to summit attendees, allowing them to experience The History of Whoo’s brand value firsthand.
A brand official for The History of Whoo said the company saw significance in introducing the brand heritage, which comprehensively embodies Korea’s unique royal court culture, on the global luxury stage.
