Nurses represented by Teamsters Local 332 at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Mich., have ratified a contract offer, ending a strike that began Sept. 1, 2025.
Five things to know:
1. The agreement includes a 13% increase for below-market wages under the union’s contract with the hospital’s previous operators, along with new weekend, critical and off-shift pay rates, according to an Oct. 16 news release from Detroit-based Henry Ford Health. Genesys Hospital joined Henry Ford Health in October 2024 through a joint venture with Ascension Michigan.
2. The contract also maintains nurse-to-patient staffing ratios from previous Teamsters Local 332 agreements and guarantees seniority rights for all striking union members.
3. The ratification follows a 411-day strike and more than 100 bargaining sessions, Teamsters Local 332 President Dan Glass said in an Oct. 20 statement shared with Becker’s.
“It was clear that the parties were not going to reach a mutual agreement on some of the core issues that remained,” Mr. Glass said. “Our nurses felt it was time to continue advocating for their patients at the bedside while preserving their ability to have Teamsters protection throughout this agreement.”
4. The hospital and union will next negotiate terms for the striking nurses’ return to work. The hospital said 350 nurses worked through the strike or joined its nursing team after it began.
5. Since the strike began, the hospital has implemented elements of Henry Ford Health’s systemwide staffing model, including shared governance councils, hospital-based staffing committees, self-scheduling and expanded use of its internal staffing pool, according to the health system release.
