Citizen TV investigations have
established the inner workings of the protest staged recently against Standard
Media Group.
The probe places two
pro-government Members of Parliament at the centre of a plan whose ultimate aim
was the storming of the Standard Group media premises.
It began with online threats and
later translated into action on October 2, 2026.
Our investigations can now reveal
that days before the protest, a group of 11 individuals calling themselves
‘Tutam’ met and planned the march on the Standard Group.
Photo evidence shows ten of them
gathered at KICC in late September, laying the groundwork for the Standard
protest.
On October 1st, another meeting
was convened at Jimlizer Hotel in Buruburu at 6pm. Hours later, Planner 12
confirmed he had secured resources to push the plan forward.
On the day of the protest, the
masterminds mobilized hundreds. One of them confirmed a group of 20 men arrived
from Umoja on motorbikes, Gazemba reported 50 from Kamukunji, while others
streamed in from Bellevue and Ngong Road. By 10am, nearly 100 men were ready to
storm Standard Group headquarters.
At 5pm, the group reconvened
online, celebrating what they called a job well done — despite complaints of
poor mobilization and unequal payouts. Gazemba lamented: “Some of us went home
counting losses, others counting thousands. It’s not fair at all.”
Citizen TV obtained an audio clip
of Sally Raghet complaining about receiving only Ksh.5,000, saying it barely
covered her personal security.
We established that participants
in the protests were hired at unspecified amounts with the lead mobilizers
reportedly receiving over Ksh.400,000, monies allegedly given by 2 pro
government MPs - one from Nairobi and another from Rift Valley region.
A conspicuous microphone branded
KDN belonging to an online platform was used to broadcast the protest content.
Our investigation traced the platform to Philip Toroitich alias Toro, head of
Tutam’s digital team.
His page, far from balanced,
exclusively amplified one political faction, serving as the propaganda arm of
the operation.
All the trails lead to the
conclusion that the so-called protest against the Standard Group was not a
spontaneous act but a carefully planned and fully paid up political stunt.
Reports indicate that the same
masterminds are now planning another march on the Standard Group on October 23,
2026.
