A swim at one of the Atherton Tablelands’ best-known tourist spots ended in tragedy when a man failed to resurface at Millaa Millaa Falls.
Emergency services were called to the popular Queensland waterfall on Theresa Creek Rd shortly after 3pm on Monday, following reports a swimmer was missing.

Police, paramedics and fire crews mounted a major response, but the search ended when the man’s body was recovered from the water.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed the death is being treated as non-suspicious.
“Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the non-suspicious death of a man at Millaa Millaa on October 12,” the spokesman said.

Millaa Millaa Falls is one of the Atherton Tablelands’ most recognised tourist attractions and a major stop on the region’s well-known Waterfall Circuit.
The falls draw visitors for their easy access, picnic areas and freshwater swimming hole.
The site, south of Cairns near the township of Millaa Millaa, is often promoted as one of the Tablelands’ most photographed natural attractions.
