A new Turkish–Japanese dining destination at Address Downtown brings together fire, craftsmanship and two cultures under one roof
This December, Downtown Dubai will welcome SOBA, a new contemporary Turkish–Japanese dining destination where Japanese precision meets the warmth, fire and generous hospitality of Turkish culture.
Opening at Address Downtown, overlooking the Burj Khalifa, SOBA brings the two cultures together through food, design and storytelling. Rather than approaching the concept as conventional fusion, the restaurant explores the values Türkiye and Japan have long shared: a respect for craftsmanship, tradition, ingredients and hospitality.
The menu follows the same philosophy. Japanese techniques, sushi and raw preparations sit alongside Turkish flavours, premium grilled meats and ocakbaşı-style fire cooking, with much of the menu designed to be shared across the table.
At SOBA, fire and precision are not opposites. One brings warmth and generosity; the other discipline and detail. Together, they form the language of the restaurant.
“SOBA is not simply a fusion of two cuisines; it is a meeting of two cultures that share a deep respect for craftsmanship, tradition and hospitality,” says Mert Türkmen, Co-founder of Soba. “Our vision is to bring Turkish soul and Japanese precision together in a dining experience that feels completely new to Dubai.”
The cultural journey continues throughout the interiors. Japanese minimalism is layered with Turkish architectural and decorative references, with deep burgundy, warm wood, cream stone, Rosso Levanto marble, antique brass and textile detailing shaping the space.
One of the restaurant’s defining features will be a sculptural ceiling installation inspired by the Silk Road, bringing together horses, Turkish motifs and tulips with Japanese sakura as a visual representation of the journey between the two cultures.

Inside, approximately 80 guests will be seated across the restaurant, bar and ocakbaşı counter. Outside, a 160-seat terrace will look directly towards the Burj Khalifa, with an integrated floor-cooling system designed to keep the space in use through Dubai’s warmer months.
SOBA’s entertainment will follow the same understated but theatrical approach, with immersive moments and guest-participation rituals including a signature experience inspired by Japanese wagasa parasols. Further details on the restaurant’s entertainment programme will be revealed closer to opening.
SOBA is expected to open at Address Downtown in mid-December 2026 and will operate daily from 12:00 PM until 3:00 AM.
Further details, including the opening date, menu and launch programme, will be announced soon.
