With New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy replacing Jameis Winston, the offense looks to get a boost, especially from the running back room featuring star Cam Skattebo. As the Giants cut Najee Harris after questioning the running back plan, Skattebo would give his reaction to the news.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the New York running back would be asked about the message sent to the players in the unit with the release of Harris. For Skattebo, who shockingly only recorded six offensive snaps and zero carries, he saw it as how “nobody’s safe.”
“It’s as simple as that,” Skattebo said, via SNY Giants. “And I think when we go on the field, and we perform, if we’re not performing, we understand there’s a possibility of not being here. And if I don’t perform, I know there’s a possibility of me not being here. So, we came in this week. We continue to work, we know where we’re at, we know what we have, and if we put that to display, we’re going to be just fine.

Giants’ John Harbaugh on the release of Najee Harris
In five games with the Giants, Harris carried the ball 31 times for 99 yards. After recording four carries in the team’s 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday, he questioned how the attempts were divvied up.
Head coach John Harbaugh commented on the release of Harris, saying that “it’s hard to carry four backs,” and even said that he “ran super hard” and “didn’t think he had a lot of room.”
“I just felt like in this situation, and like I told him, nothing against what he did,” Harbaugh said. “It was just the direction we decided to go at this time going forward. So nothing that he did or didn’t do, and I’m just thinking with our guys, those guys will be the guys that will give a shot and see where we go.”
John Harbaugh explains why the Giants cut Najee Harris:
"It was more about, 'Alright, we're going to set a course.' It's hard to carry four backs.

It remains to be seen how the usage of Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary will be in New York’s game on Sunday against the Houston Texans.
