Unions FNV and CNV have suspended their weekly strikes in regional public transport for two weeks after employers made new commitments on a collective labour agreement, broadcaster NOS reported on Wednesday.
The suspension means Thursday’s planned strike did not go ahead, the unions said in a press release.
The unions announced in early October they would strike one day a week after talks broke down. Staff at operators including Arriva, Keolis and Qbuzz walked out for the first time last week, cancelling many buses and regional trains across the country.
The unions are demanding a 9.5% pay rise over two years and better conditions for older staff.
