The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers have been two of the standout teams in the 2026/27 NFL season so far.
The Chiefs are undefeated with a 4-0 record after being given a bye in week five of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are 5-0 and most recently secured a big win over the Seattle Seahawks.
But while the Niners look the team to beat right now, former NFL player Manti Teʻo still picked Kansas when answering which undefeated team is more believable out of the duo.
Manti Teʻo not confident 49ers can stay healthy later in the season
Manti did say the 49ers are the best team in the league right now, but he still picked the Chiefs because he doesn’t have the confidence that San Francisco can stay healthy come week 12, week 13, based on what has happened in previous years.
Speaking on Good Morning Football, he said: “It’s very difficult for me to go opposite of the San Francisco 49ers. But I’ll go back to what that reporter asked Patrick Mahomes, said ‘what are you guys gonna be come Halloween?’
“That’s the question I ask the San Francisco 49ers. Who are you gonna be, who is gonna be playing for you?
“And that’s why even though they are the best team in the NFL right now, the question is what undefeated team is more believable? I got to go with the Chiefs because I don’t know who’s going to be suiting up for the San Francisco 49ers come week 12, week 13.
“If they can stay healthy, I’m all in it. I just don’t have that confidence knowing what has happened the past few years, based on week 12, week 13, what that roster looks like and it hasn’t been looking really promising lately with the injuries, I’m going to go with the Chiefs.”
For now, anyway, the Chiefs are probably going to end this week 5-0 as they face the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
As for the 49ers, they will clash with the 1-3-1 Washington Commanders on Monday.
