Hyundai Motor Group is extending its support for abused children through its i-CARE CAR program.
Hyundai Motor (005380) Group said on the 14th that it held a handover ceremony for the i-CARE CAR vehicles at the Community Chest of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 13th. Attendees included Lee Hang-soo, executive vice president and head of Hyundai Motor Group's policy support business division; Kim Hyun-sook, director general for population and child policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare; Jin Suk-beom, secretary general of the Community Chest of Korea; and Kim Woong-chul, secretary general of Good Neighbors.
The i-CARE CAR program is a corporate social responsibility initiative that donates vehicles to child protection agencies for use in home visits and mobile counseling for abused children. The vehicles are custom-built with counseling space inside, including rotating seats for face-to-face sessions, audiovisual education monitors and psychological therapy materials, to support abused children in underserved areas.
At the ceremony, the agencies selected to receive the vehicles presented their plans for using them, and the features installed in the vehicles were demonstrated.
Hyundai Motor Group is providing 12 Staria and Carnival vans equipped for mobile counseling to 12 child protection agencies nationwide this year. Separately, it is donating eight small electric vehicles, including the Casper EV and Ray EV, to eight agencies for rapid home visits in urban areas.
Including this donation, the group has provided a total of 192 vehicles to 86 child protection agencies nationwide since 2014.
"The i-CARE program began to support abused children and child protection workers more closely," Lee said. "We will always be there so that every child can grow their dreams in a safer environment."
