Maryam tells Sindh officers….
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said that she ensured that merit was followed in the appointment of administrative officers in the province and the change one can notice in Punjab is because the decisions were made on time.
Speaking to the officers of Sindh administrative service in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that under her supervision, houses were built for deserving people during one-and-a-half year.
Asserting that no society could progress without the participation of women, the chief minister said that there was a considerable representation of women in the PML-N. “The reason why improvement is being witnessed in Punjab these days is because decisions were taken on time,” she added.
She said it was the country that had given respect and identity to each and every Pakistani. “We can say with pride that we are Pakistanis,” she added.
Maryam went on to say that the officers of the administrative service were the nation’s pride. She said there was a need to work honestly and diligently for the country’s progress. Maryam Nawaz has said that she has her own path and way of doing things which is not similar to that of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s style of working.
“You have to decide whether to fulfil the responsibility that Allah Almighty and the State have placed upon you, or to tiptoe around cautiously out of fear of criticism,” she said and added “My father (Na-waz Sharif) is a shining beacon of guidance for me; my uncle (Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif) too is an example of success. But I have my own path and way of doing things. To make decisions in the interest of the country and nation, one must rise above one’s own self.”
She further told the officers that every minute of her day’s programme, from morning till evening, is accounted for. “My entire focus is on governance and delivery. Instead of taking the easy route, I have chosen the path of working and making decisions,” she said and added “Now it’s your payback time too. This country invested in your education and training, gave you trust. You are not just officers; you are the custodians of Pakistan’s legacy. If everyone keeps choosing the easy path, this country will never change.”
Maryam remarked that in the world, anything is possible through hard work and good intentions, when a person works with sincerity, Allah Almighty also helps him or her. “A senior journalist from Ka-rachi was astonished to see the cleanliness, orderli-ness, lush green environment, and beauty of every-thing at Lahore Airport. This change comes from making decisions and taking practical steps, but to ac-complish outstanding work, one also needs the courage to face criticism and risks,” she added.
The chief minister opined that time is her most valuable asset.
