Glovo has trained 50 entrepreneurs in Nakuru on digital marketing, catalogue management, and operational efficiency as the company expands its support for small businesses beyond Nairobi and Mombasa.
The training was held as part of the company’s 2026 Partner Academy programme, and it’s the initiative’s first regional session in Nakuru and focused on assisting local merchants in improving their performance on digital delivery platforms.
According to Glovo, they have generated more than $ 1 million in sales for restaurants and retail partners in Nakuru in 2025. Nakuru has more than 110 active merchants on the platform.
Glovo works with over 6000 businesses across Kenya, with 80% of those businesses being micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Yvonne Muthoka, Small and Medium Size Business Lead Category at Glovo Kenya, said Nakuru is the company’s rapidly growing market outside Nairobi and Mombasa, positioning it as a key area for merchant development.
“Bringing the Partner Academy to Nakuru marks an important progression for our merchant development efforts. Nakuru represents our fastest-growing market outside Nairobi and Mombasa. Through this program, our objective is to provide actionable expertise in catalog optimization, order fulfillment speed, and transit packaging. When neighbourhood vendors master these operational fundamentals, they build sustainable operations capable of scaling into prominent regional enterprises.” She said.
Some of the topics covered during the sessions are ways to improve product listings, manage peak ordering periods, reduce order preparation delays, and maintain product quality during delivery. These skills are expected to help businesses serve more customers through online ordering and reach consumers beyond their neighbourhood.
“Operating in Nakuru’s competitive commercial district requires continuous adaptation to changing consumer habits. The sessions offered practical methods to track peak ordering hours, minimize preparation delays, and maintain product quality during delivery. These operational adjustments allow us to connect with customers across wider delivery zones that our walk-in trade could not previously reach.” Said one of the attending restaurant owners from the cohort.
According to Glovo, MSMEs are playing a major role in the country’s economy, with them contributing approximately 34% of Kenya’s gross domestic product, employing 15 million people and accounting for nearly 91% of newly created jobs.
The Nakuru workshop comes after the Partner Academy sessions in Nairobi and Mombasa, completing the initiative’s 2026 cycle
Furthermore, Glovo is planning to hold quarterly sessions in additional counties in 2027 with a focus on using the platform’s data and practical business training to boost merchants’ operations.
