Alibaba's personal agent Qwen Go! has added a feature called My Apps, which lets users build their own apps without writing code. Launched on October 23, the feature asks users to describe what they want, then builds an app for daily life, work or study. The resulting apps can be shared with others, keep updating their data and stay available over time, rather than disappearing at the end of a chat.
Alibaba gives examples such as interactive course materials, event sign-up pages, family outing guides and fitness class booking assistants. These are small, specific tools that would normally need a developer or a template website, and that people tend to want to keep using and sharing.
My Apps is built on Meoo, Alibaba Cloud's AI application production platform. Meoo handles the steps that usually stop non-programmers: it builds the app, configures the database and deploys it online automatically. Meoo also has a command-line tool on GitHub, which points to the same back end being offered to developers.
The feature also works with Qwen Go!'s cloud Pro mode, which can operate cloud phones and cloud computers on the user's behalf. With the user's authorization, apps built through My Apps can draw on data from Alibaba services including Taobao, Damai and Quark's cloud drive. That lets a user build, for example, a tool that pulls in their own ticket or shopping information, so the app fits their needs more closely than a generic one.
The update extends what Qwen Go! does. When Alibaba opened sign-ups earlier this month, the pitch was an agent that handles errands such as filing flight-delay claims and tracking price protection. My Apps moves it from doing tasks to making tools. Qwen's Jiang Guanjun, speaking at the CNCC conference on the same day, described a personal agent framework that depends on models, memory and an ecosystem working together, and app building adds a creation layer to that picture.
Both My Apps and cloud Pro are still in invite-only testing. Users can join a waitlist on the invitation page inside the Qwen app, and Alibaba says access is opening up quickly.
