By Zoila Palma: Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College (CEMJC) in San Román Village is contributing to Belize’s environmental conservation efforts after planting 25 trees as part of the national One Million Trees Campaign.
The initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the Belize Forest Department through the Greening Belize Initiative, which encourages tree planting and environmental stewardship across the country. The Forest Department thanked CEMJC for reaching out and taking the initiative to participate in the programme.
The tree-planting activity aims to help create greener learning spaces while encouraging students and the wider school community to take an active role in protecting the environment. The campaign forms part of Belize’s broader goal of planting one million trees by 2030.
The Forest Department is encouraging other schools to participate in the initiative and has invited interested institutions to contact info@forest.gov.bz for information on getting involved.
