Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka CERT has urged the public not to be misled by a fraudulent social media message claiming that a leading bank in Sri Lanka is offering a special gift to mark Vap Poya Day, which falls on Sunday.
According to Sri Lanka CERT, the bank has not announced or initiated any such gift offer. The circulating message is suspected to be a scam designed to steal personal information, banking credentials and other sensitive data.
The organisation warned that individuals who fall victim to the scam could face the risk of having their bank accounts compromised.
Sri Lanka CERT has advised the public not to click on any links attached to the message or provide personal or banking information through suspicious websites.
The public is urged to verify promotional offers through official bank channels and remain vigilant against online scams.
