Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has renominated Ibrahim Namadi, the former Commissioner for Transportation, for reappointment to the state executive council.
Mr Namadi had resigned in August 2025 following intense controversy over his role in securing bail for an alleged drug baron, Sulaiman Danwawu.
Governor Yusuf submitted Mr Namadi’s name and five others in a letter to the state House of Assembly on Wednesday for screening and confirmation.
Reading the governor’s letter at Wednesday’s plenary, Speaker Jibril Falgore listed the other nominees as Salisu Yusha’u, Sani Lawan, Muntari Ishaq, Aminu Tsanyawa, and Idris Mustapha.

House Majority Leader Lawan Hussaini confirmed the development to Daily Trust, stating that the nominees have been invited to appear before the Assembly on Monday at 10 a.m. for screening.
Mr Namadi was initially suspended after standing surety for the drug trafficking suspect.
He tendered his resignation hours after Governor Yusuf received the findings of an investigative committee set up to probe the matter, citing the case’s sensitive nature and overriding public interest as his reasons for stepping down.
