Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, the eldest son of the late Yoruba leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has disclosed that his father died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 100.
Taiwo, who serves as the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, confirmed his father’s death in an interview on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
According to him, the elder Fasoranti passed away at about 4 p.m. in his bedroom, having lived to celebrate his 100th birthday in May.
“Baba passed on this evening around 4pm peacefully in his room, in his bed,” he said.
He added that the family had been looking forward to celebrating the centenarian’s 101st birthday but had accepted his death with gratitude for the life he lived.
“He turned 100 in May. We were all looking forward to his 101st birthday, but God knows best. We’re happy, we thank God for his life and for the impactful life he lived,” Taiwo said.

The SSG also urged Nigerians to celebrate his father’s life and legacy rather than focus solely on mourning his death.
He said the family was grateful for the years Pa Fasoranti spent on earth and the impact he made during his lifetime.
