The severed head of Ajinbou Ringkamai, who was killed in a suspected militant attack in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on October 10, has been recovered, a senior official said.
Ringkamai was killed when gunmen attacked Makui Ashang, a Naga-inhabited village. His head had been severed during the attack but remained missing after the incident.
His headless body was brought to the state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal on October 11.
The recovery comes after the Joint Tribes Council Manipur, a Naga organisation, issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding that the severed head be traced to enable the deceased to be given a proper funeral.

More than 50 people have been killed in clashes between Kukis and Nagas since February this year. The clashes have been reported in Ukhrul, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney and Tamenglong districts.
