The Siaya senator was reportedly admitted in early October. Oburu's hospitalisation attracted public attention, particularly as the country prepared to mark the first anniversary of the death of his younger brother, former prime minister Raila Odinga.
The veteran politician was last seen in public on October 15, when photographs of him celebrating his 83rd birthday in hospital were shared online. The date also marked one year since Raila's death, making the occasion an emotional moment for the ODM leader.

What did Oburu say during his birthday?
In a message reflecting on the coincidence, Oburu described the day as a profound connection between his life and the loss of his brother.
“Today, October 15, is far more than just a date on the calendar; it is a sacred intersection of life and eternity. To have been born on this day and for you to have departed on this same date is a divine testament to the invisible thread that binds our souls,” he wrote.
Oburu further said that Raila's death had not weakened the bond they shared, describing their connection as one that transcended physical presence.
His admission to hospital fuelled online speculation about his condition, with supporters seeking updates as preparations for Raila's first death anniversary gathered momentum.
Oburu's health struggles
The ODM leader had previously dismissed claims that he was seriously ill after an earlier hospital visit in Nairobi, explaining that he had undergone a routine medical check-up.
At the time, Oburu said he was resting at his Nairobi residence and rejected reports circulating online about the severity of his condition and alleged restrictions on visitors.
He also assured supporters that he would communicate openly if his health deteriorated.
His discharge comes at a significant time for ODM, which he took over following Raila's death. The party is now navigating its leadership transition and political direction as Kenya approaches the 2027 General Election.
