The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, to lead Nigeria’s high-level delegation to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
The global gathering, scheduled to run from October 12 to 18, brings together finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners, and key economic policymakers from around the world.
Discussions will center on global economic trends, development financing priorities, and strategic paths to sustainable growth.
For Nigeria, the annual meetings offer a vital platform as the country continues its push to consolidate macroeconomic stability, drive direct foreign investment, and ensure that ongoing structural reforms translate into productive industrial output, expanded business opportunities, and job creation.
During the week-long event, Minister Oyedele is expected to hold bilateral talks with international financial institutions, global investors, and multilateral partners to advance Nigeria’s core economic priorities and reinforce its position in the global economy.
Ministry officials confirmed that regular updates regarding the Minister’s high-level engagements and Nigeria’s bilateral agreements will be issued as the meetings progress.
