JSS, TSS oppose demand for Imna Along’s resignation
১১/১০/২০২৬

Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): The Japukong Senso Senden (JSS) and the Tzurangkong Senso Senden have opposed the ultimatum issued by the Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Mangkolemba, demanding the resignation of Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along over the construction of the Multipurpose Hall in Mokokchung. In separate press releases, the two organisations questioned the propriety of seeking the minister’s resignation, maintaining that issues concerning public infrastructure and community welfare should be resolved through cooperation, constructive engagement and collective responsibility rather than ultimatums. The JSS, in a statement issued following its meeting on October 7, termed the ultimatum dated October 3 “improper and uncalled for,” alleging that such demands, without any lawful basis, could be driven by political considerations, selfish interests and a confrontational attitude. It maintained that arbitrary demands intended to bring someone down neither served the public interest nor contributed to finding practical, long-term solutions to existing challenges. The organisation said it remained open to engagement with all stakeholders committed to finding a viable solution in the larger interest of the community.Likewise, the TSS stated that the demand was “neither an appropriate course of action nor directly relevant” to addressing concerns surrounding the construction of the Multipurpose Hall.It noted that voters of the 30 Alongtaki Assembly Constituency had elected Along for consecutive terms, expressing faith in his ability and questioned the propriety of voters outside the constituency issuing ultimatums demanding his resignation.Alleging that such demands could be driven by political considerations and personal interests rather than a genuine effort to resolve the issue, the TSS called on all concerned to rise above political differences and adopt a peaceful and responsible approach.
