Law firm Shin & Kim said on the 19th that it has hired Lim Se-jin, a former chief prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, to strengthen its capabilities in handling criminal and regulatory risks faced by companies.
Lim spent about 18 years as a prosecutor, beginning at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and later serving at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. Over that period, Lim handled investigations and trial work across areas including financial and securities crime, corporate and public-sector corruption, and the recovery of criminal proceeds. As chief of the first financial investigation division at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, Lim investigated unfair trading in capital markets and the use of undisclosed material information. As chief of the criminal proceeds recovery division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Lim investigated a large-scale embezzlement case involving bank employees and traced and recovered hidden assets. Lim also served as head of the prosecution affairs division and the criminal policy planning division at the Ministry of Justice, overseeing personnel, organizational and budget matters as well as major policy and management work for the prosecution service.
Shin & Kim said the hire is expected to add a more comprehensive approach to corporate criminal and regulatory risk, drawing on extensive investigative and policy experience built up in key investigative units and senior posts at the Ministry of Justice. The firm's criminal practice group is led by Moon Moo-il and senior partner Jang Young-soo, and includes Lee Jung-hwan, Park Jin-won, Cho Joo-yeon and Lee Jae-hoon, among roughly 80 specialists with backgrounds in the prosecution service and the police. In June, the firm added Kim Tae-hyung, a former deputy chief prosecutor at the Cheonan branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office, and Shin Seung-ho, a former chief of the third criminal division at the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office.
Senior partner Oh Jong-han said the firm would provide more refined and multifaceted solutions across corporate criminal and regulatory risk through the addition of Lim, who holds deep expertise in multiple areas after serving in a range of key posts in the prosecution service.
