Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has rebuilt and roofed 40 of the 75 traditional houses in Sade Traditional Village in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, after a fire in late August,
Susiwijono Moegiarso, secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said.
He said in a statement here Monday that restoration will continue after the emergency response period ended on Sept. 20.
"Efforts are now focused on implementing the design, with priority given to rebuilding traditional houses and public facilities, providing utility and safety infrastructure, and restoring the local economy while preserving Sade's cultural identity," he said.
The ministry also discussed technical recovery steps with the provincial government, including funding coordination, construction design, completion schedule and division of roles between parties.
"We are coordinating with ministries/institutions (K/L), regional government, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and other partners to ensure funding requirements, design compliance, completion schedules, and assigning responsibilities to ensure the buildings are properly rebuilt," he said.
The reconstruction plan, initiated by InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), has been completed with support from the University of Mataram and the indigenous community.
Technical assistance in implementing the design will come from the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, Susiwijono said.
Construction of public facilities, including a mosque, museum, bale bengong and public toilets, has also begun.
The government has set up a mechanism to channel donor assistance through a holding account and a dedicated account for each affected family to ensure timely distribution.
Economic activity in the village is starting to recover, with the Tourism Ministry providing raw materials, business capital and production equipment.
The government aims to restore the village's physical structures and support the community's long-term economic recovery.
