Independent senator Jacqui Lambie has condemned One Nation for making light of her struggles with vaginal prolapse in a cartoon, but party leader Pauline Hanson has told Lambie to “lighten up”.
Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie had revealed in August she had a vaginal and bladder prolapse requiring surgery and five months of leave, which was directly linked to her own military service (The Canberra Times).
Lambie is shown coughing in the latest episode of One Nation’s Please Explain cartoon series, with it being implied a prolapse is occurring (The Canberra Times).
“Decent leaders don’t stir up hatred, pushing us towards bloody anarchy,” Lambie said of Hanson on Monday. “If you think it’s a laughable matter about women having problems with their reproductive system ... Seriously, enough is enough” (The Age).
“Jacqui Lambie: get over it, OK? It is actually satirical,” Hanson responded. “Have a bit of a laugh, Jacqui, and lighten up” (The Age).
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the Coalition and members of the crossbench have come out in support of Lambie and condemned Hanson over the cartoon (The Guardian).
