Life is good if you fancy yourself a sports fan—we're several weeks into the NFL season, MLB playoffs are here, the NHL dropped the puck on a new season just a few weeks ago, and a new NBA season begins today starting with the Boston Celtics taking on the Detroit Pistons. What would make life even better, however, is a big and vibrant TV to catch it all. We have good news on that front, as Amazon and Best Buy have some enticing big screen TV deals that are worth checking out.
Samsung's 85-Inch R85H Micro RGB 4K TV Is Best Buy's Deal Of The Day
One of those deals is for Samsung's 85-inch R85H Micro RGB 4K TV—it's on sale for $2,599.99 at Best Buy (save $1,400). But what exactly is Micro RGB?
"Samsung Micro RGB is an advanced TV display technology that uses thousands of micro-sized red, green, and blue (RGB) LEDs for the backlight. Unlike conventional LED TVs or Mini-LED TVs, Micro RGB controls color directly via independent RGB (red, green, blue) diodes, resulting in an ultra-wide spectrum color, stunning brightness, precise contrast and true depth for a lifelike viewing experience," Samsung explains.
It basically boils down to smaller LEDs (less than 100 microns versus 100-400 microns) plus RGB LEDs instead of blue and white ones. In theory, this enables a more vibrant picture, enhanced brightness and contrast, and a wider color gamut.
In practice, our friends at Rtings found the R85H to be a versatile TV that holds its own in both dim and moderately-lit rooms, giving it a 7.6 out of 10 rating for mixed usage. While not top of the line, Samsung doesn't position the R85H as a flagship model.
That said, there are some nice features, such as a native 144Hz refresh rate, full array local dimming (FALD), FreeSync Premium Pro validation, full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and Dolby Atmos support.
Go Even Bigger For Less With Toshiba's 100-Inch Mini LED 4K Fire TV

Another big screen option is Toshiba's 100-inch Z670 Series Mini LED 4K Fire TV that's on sale for $1,897.97 at Amazon (save $602.02). That amounts to a 24% discount over MSRP, and just as importantly, this limited time deal drops this 100-inch beast down to its lowest price ever.
This is another 2026 model, and it's packed with features at an aggressive price. For one, it's massive. It also sports mini LED backlighting, a native 144Hz refresh rate, and more robust HDR support—it supports Dolby Vision in addition to HDR10+, whereas Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision on any of its models.
Gamers should take notice too. This is a FreeSync Premium model with VRR and ALLM support, to go along with the aforementioned 144Hz refresh rate.
