Baseball tees have been doing laps around clothing racks and street style feeds for a while now, but Daisy Edgar-Jones has officially made them mandatory viewing on her Sense and Sensibility press tour. While strolling through New York City, she didn't just wear one vintage Chloé baseball tee from Stella McCartney’s spring '99 collection (sourced by My Runway Archive and Emerieu) - she pulled out two.
This keeps her Chloé streak alive, following her appearance on October 7 in a corset and satin skirtfrom that exact same 1999 collection for the Los Angeles premiere.
Daisy kicked things off in a pink-sleeved hummingbird bird number. Looking lived in with just the right amount of fade, her stylist Dani Michelle paired the top with lime green Versace leather pants - bravely tackling that eternal fashion hurdle of wearing actual colour when the weather turns cold.
For round two, she switched into the brand's navy-sleeved version featuring a glowing blue eagle front and centre, styled with satin lace-trimmed shorts and white pumps. It was a complete uno reverso move from the original runway styling, which originally paired the top with a dark fitted suit and heels.
Pieces from this legendary '90s collection have long been a favourite of fashion royalty like Kate Moss and Adriana Lima. Because the airbrushed collection is practically impossible to find, the lucky few who own a piece are guarding them with their lives - though Daisy is far from the only A-lister keeping the trend alive, joining the ranks of Alexa Chung, Zoë Kravitz, Emily Ratajkowski and more who love the top.
So yes, twenty-seven years later the appeal of the baseball tee is still going strong. While scoring the actual Chloé archives might require selling an arm, a leg, and your vintage handbag collection, you can easily scour Vinted, Vestiaire Collective, eBay, and Depop for that authentic, worn look.
Or, if the thrill of the thrift hunt sounds exhausting, you can skip the digital treasure hunt entirely. Plenty of brands, from Cou Cou Intimates down to Zara, are stocking modern versions, which you can find here.
