Senator repesenting Lagos East, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has reinforced his commitment to educational development with the commissioning of two rehabilitated and reconstructed classroom blocks at Government College Lagos, Eric Moore, Surulere.
The project marks a special homecoming for Abiru, who attended the school between 1975 and 1980, and reflects his efforts to give back to the institution that helped shape his early years.
Facilitated by the senator and executed through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), led by Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the intervention features improved classrooms, new furniture, upgraded sanitation facilities and a functional water supply system.
The project adds to Abiru’s previous interventions at the school, which include a school hall, an administrative building and a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) laboratory equipped with high-speed internet and solar power.
Beyond infrastructure, the senator expressed concern over the school’s performance in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), urging the school management, teachers, parents, students and relevant education authorities to work together to improve academic outcomes.
