The natural gas import cost of Armenia will rise by 69% if the country leaves the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), according to a report prepared by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council members from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
“Gas imports by the Republic of Armenia in value terms... will increase by $268.5 million, or 69%, from 389 million [US dollars] to 657.5 million [US] dollars,” the report says.
It is explained that the scenario assessment of natural gas imports to Armenia from other EAEU member states is based on a price of $300 per thousand cubic meters—assuming physical amount of supplies remain the same.
"Compared to the current base price of $177.5 per thousand cubic meters, the price increase will be about 69%," the report adds.
