Air Force vs. Wyoming isn’t the Mountain West game of the week – that’s North Dakota State at New Mexico – but it’s not far off.
The Cowboys are playing well, beating San Jose State and Northern Illinois on the way to a 3-1 Mountain West record. The lone loss was at North Dakota State.
The Falcons are even hotter, on a four-game winning streak with a 3-1 record in the conference. Like Wyoming, the only loss in Mountain West play was against the Bison.
The winner here stays deep in the hunt for a spot in the Mountain West title game, and while the loser isn’t done quite yet, it would take something extraordinary to get into the title game.

Why Air Force Will Win
Army is No. 1 in the nation in rushing. Air Force is second, and then there’s everyone else who isn’t all that close.
It was one thing to rip up a bad Northern Illinois team for over 430 yards and four touchdowns, but the Falcons made a massive statement last week with 430 yards and five scores in the key win over UNLV.
The timing is down, and because of it, the Falcons are blasting through third down conversions without a problem as they hang on to the ball for over 36 minutes per game.
Wyoming is 101st in the nation against the run. But …
Why Wyoming Will Win
Wyoming doesn’t control the clock, and it doesn’t have a whole lot of firepower, but as always, the team has a way of grinding games down into low-scoring fights, especially at home.
The offense worked just fine against Northern Illinois last week, and that’s because quarterback Tyler Hughes was hitting his passes. No, the Cowboys aren’t going to own the clock in this, but as long as Hughes is sharp, everything else works.
Wyoming is 4-0 when Hughes is connecting 67% or more of his throws. Air Force hasn’t exactly faced a slew of sharp passing attacks, but the one loss came to North Dakota State when Bison quarterback Nathan Hayes was on.
Air Force vs Wyoming Prediction, Betting Lines
Yes, Wyoming beat Northern Illinois last week, but it also got ripped up for a few too many gashing runs. The sheer number of Air Force rushing attempts will be the issue.
Wyoming will do whatever it can to throw a wrinkle or two to keep Air Force from doing what it does, but nothing will end up working.
