Jürgen Klopp has had plenty on his plate since being unveiled as Germany's head coach. Alongside putting together a smaller squad for the next international break, the Germany boss will surely have another top priority on his list from today.
And it's quite simple: convincing Nicolo Tresoldi to choose Germany. The young striker was outstanding in Club Brugge's match against Inter Milan, scoring a hat-trick to fire the Belgian side to an away win at the San Siro.
In the 30th minute, the former Hannover player coolly dispatched a penalty into the top corner in stunning fashion. In the 63rd minute, the youngster reacted lightning-fast to a defensive blunder by the hosts and slotted the ball into an empty net, before showing those quick reactions again around ten minutes later to make it 3-1 — an absolute dream evening. In the end, Club Brugge secured a surprise 4-3 win over the 2025 Champions League finalists.
For Nicolo Tresoldi, shining on Europe's biggest stage is nothing new, either. Last Champions League season, the Cagliari-born goalscorer already registered four goal contributions, scoring against top teams such as Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.

Tresoldi is still unsure whether he ultimately wants to play for Germany or Italy. At the player's request, Klopp recently left him with Germany's under-21s, as he still wants to play in the European Championship this summer, but he was naturally still on the list of potential senior internationals.
Yesterday, the striker provided three more reasons why Klopp urgently needs to convince him to choose the German national team. Tresoldi's final decision this summer will be eagerly awaited.
