A four-year-old girl drowned after allegedly accidentally slipping into the temple tank at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadagirigutta on Wednesday (October 21) evening.
The deceased was identified as Shivalingam Adhyatha, daughter of Praveen Kumar, a resident of Badangpet in Ranga Reddy district.
According to an officer from the Yadadri police, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. when Praveen Kumar and his family visited the temple. While the family members were bathing in the Pushkarini near the Kalyana Katta, Adhyatha was playing on the steps of the tank.
The child accidentally slipped and fell into the water. As she did not know how to swim, she began drowning. Family members and others present at the spot immediately pulled her out and rushed her to AIIMS Hospital in Bibinagar for treatment.
However, despite medical intervention, the girl died while undergoing treatment at 8.32 p.m., police said. Following the incident, the Yadadri police registered a case and shifted the body to Bhongir Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The body was subsequently handed over to the child’s father. Further investigation is under way.
