After their disappointing Anfield defeat to Manchester City, Liverpool bounced back with back-to-back away wins against LASK and Brentford. Academy starlets like Lewis Koumas, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha stepped in amid an injury crisis, and their emergence should boost the youngsters, who are out on loan to prove their worth for their respective outfits.
Liverpool FC Loan Watch
Ifeanyi Ndukwe ( CB – Levante)
Grabbed his second successive start after an eventful outing against Sevilla. The 18-year-old showed his physical growth and composure on the ball against Deportivo A Coruña striking duo Bil Nsongo and Yeremay Hernandez. But he could have done better to block the latter’s attempt before Nsongo found the net from the rebound. Struggled at times during the duels in their 1-1 draw.
Ármin Pécsi (GK – TSV Hartberg)
Had a difficult time between the sticks against league leaders Rapid Wien. He conceded three goals in Hartberg’s 3-1 defeat in Vienna, as he could do little to stop any of them on Friday night.
Calum Scanlon (LB – Cardiff City)
Joel Bagan remains the preferred left-back, but the gaffer Brian Barry-Murphy brought Scanlon in as a makeshift right-back, replacing the struggling Ronan Kpakio. Cardiff conceded twice within 3 minutes around the hour mark, despite being 2-0 up at the break against Middlesbrough, and the young Englishman managed to solidify their defence in the remaining minutes, particularly after they were reduced to ten men following Gabriel Osho’s sending off.
Kieran Morrison (LM – Sheffield Wednesday)
The Owls clinched a 5-0 win against Wimbledon, and the young Liverpool loanee set it up for David Keillor-Dunn as a late substitute. However, Morrison must fight to regain the starting spot, with Keillor-Dunn, Harry Gray and Callum Slattery finding the net for the League One club.

Kyle Kelly (CM – Forest Green Rovers)
Maintained his starting status against Chesham United in the FA Cup Round 4 qualifiers. Although the game finished in a stalemate, the midfield prodigy orchestrated their offensive push and forced Ben Goode to make a crucial save.
Keyrol Figueroa ( ST – Port Vale)
Was deployed from the bench against Chesterfield, as the Honduran centre-forward replaced Onel Hernandez, who scored the solitary goal in Port Vale’s 1-0 victory. Did not offer much up top other than a couple of attempts from outside the box.
Calvin Ramsay ( RB – St Mirren)
The dreadful run continues for St Mirren, as they suffered their fifth successive defeat. Showed his defensive traits but offered minimal threat with his overlapping runs and crosses in their 3-1 setback to Aberdeen.
Harvey Elliott ( AM – Valencia)
Was once again deployed as a second-half substitute in their stalemate with Athletic Club. Continues to struggle in his limited cameo against the shape and discipline of the Basque outfit.
Centre-half Amara Nallo and custodian Kornel Miściur were not involved for HJK and Leek Town, respectively, due to injury concerns. Genk ‘number 1’ Lucca Brughmans and Brest attacker Djylian N’Guessan were not involved this gameweek for tactical reasons.
