The Indianapolis Colts are making a drastic change, with Chris Ballard being shown the door. One former NFL star has brought franchise legend Peyton Manning into it.
The Indianapolis Colts suffered a defeat at the hands of the winless Tennessee Titans. Not only was it bad enough that the team lost against such a poorly performing franchise, the fact that Tennessee are division rivals made it much worse. It was the final chapter in the story of Chris Ballard’s Colts tenure.
Ballard spent nearly 10 years as Indianapolis Colts GM, and during most of that time, the team was nothing more than average. They lost more games than they won over the course of his career. Trading for Sauce Gardner and giving Daniel Jones a big extension had him on the hot seat, and the Titans loss sealed his fate. People are already talking about what is next for the Colts.
Robert Griffin III calls for Peyton Manning to return to the Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning has been a name discussed as a potential GM for the Colts for many years. The quarterback led the Colts to the Super Bowl during his 13 years with the franchise. He is a team legend and one of the NFL’s most respected personalities.
Reports suggest that he is strongly being considered for Ballard’s job, and now Robert Griffin III has openly called for the team to make the hire.
“The Indianapolis Colts should hire Peyton Manning as their new GM,” RGIII said without getting too much into the details. Many fans seemed to agree with him too, it seems that Manning would be quite a popular choice among Colts’ supporters.
However things shake out, it really was time for the Colts to move on from Ballard. If they actually manage to land Peyton, that might go a long way in softening the blow of recent failures they’ve had to witness.
