As the countdown for Thursday night’s $100 million jackpot ticks down, one state stands above the rest when it comes to recent division one Powerball wins, with more than $160m in winnings handed out this year so far.
NSW residents might be feeling particularly excited in the lead-up to Thursday night’s $100m jackpot because seven of the last 16 major jackpots this year have been won there.

After five consecutive Powerball draws with no division one winner, the total of potential winnings has steadily gone up, with one lucky ticket holder now being guaranteed $100m if their numbers are called at 7.30pm on Thursday.
The Lott spokesperson Khat McIntyre said there were “only a handful” of Aussies who knew what it’s like to win that kind of money, but the tally could potentially be expanded tonight.
“The idea of winning this life-changing jackpot is sure to get Aussies dreaming big this week,” Ms McIntyre said.
“As long as you’ve got a ticket in your hand before the draw’s close, you’re in with a chance to win.

“If you’re grabbing a ticket, be sure to register your entry to a player card or online account. This means if you win division one, we can call you immediately after the draw tonight with the life-changing news.”
In 2026, NSW and Victoria share the vast majority of winnings, with 12 of the 16 division one winners being found in the two states.
Two winners have come from Queensland and one each from Tasmania and Western Australia.
South Australia and the Northern Territory are yet to pick up a win this year.
