The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has suspended its nationwide strike, effective Friday, October 16, 2026.
Members are therefore to report to work from Monday, October 19. The association says the decision was taken after final engagement with the Ministry of Education, with a firm assurance to address all their concerns.
The association embarked on the industrial action over concerns about disparities in revised market premiums and related allowances between teaching and non-teaching senior staff in public universities.
The strike, which was reactivated on August 10, followed persistent concerns over remuneration differences between the two categories of university staff.
The suspension of the industrial action is expected to pave the way for a return to normal administrative operations at public universities across the country.
Further details on the terms of the suspension and any agreements reached with the relevant authorities are yet to be confirmed.
