Russia will unveil a new air defense system dubbed the “Anti-Drone Dome” at next week’s Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, seeking to sell its military technology abroad as Ukrainian drone strikes continue to hit targets across Russia.
State arms exporter Rosoboronexport announced the planned presentation on Friday, according to Interfax.

The system combines radar detection, electronic jamming, weapons and physical barriers to protect civilians, military personnel, bridges, buildings, energy infrastructure and industrial facilities. A separate version is designed to shield moving convoys and cargo.
“All the tools and solutions used in it have proven their effectiveness in real conditions,” Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev said.
The company said the system relies entirely on Russian-made equipment and can be tailored to individual customers and facilities.
But the sales pitch comes as Russia struggles to prevent Ukrainian drones from reaching targets deep inside its territory. Repeated attacks have struck oil refineries, warehouses and data centers, putting pressure on Russian air defenses.
In September, Ukrainian attacks damaged several major refineries, forcing some to suspend or reduce production. By mid-September, half of Russia’s six largest diesel-producing refineries had significantly cut or halted output.
Ukrainian drones have also reached targets hundreds of kilometers inside Russia, including facilities near Moscow.

Russian strikes also damaged a railway facility in central Ukraine’s Poltava and at least six households and infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin replaced the head of Russia’s Aerospace Forces amid a reported surge in Ukrainian drone attacks.
The force’s new chief, Alexander Chaiko, later reportedly survived a suicide bombing at an upscale Moscow restaurant in August.
The planned presentation also comes as Moscow seeks to strengthen military and political ties with African governments and promote Russian-made weapons.
The Anti-Drone Dome will give Rosoboronexport a new product to pitch to potential customers, although the company has yet to publish detailed performance data or demonstrate the system publicly.
For now, Rosoboronexport’s claims of effectiveness in real-world conditions remain unverified independently.
